Army to tighten noose on touts active in recruitment rallies | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 11: Army today said noose would be tightened on touts and impersonators operating during the ecruitment rallies. "We are maintaining a check on touts alluring candidates coming from the remotes belts of Jammu region for recruitment," Brig Vinod Raizada, SM DDG, Recruitment, told a press conference here. He said besides touts, army was also closely monitoring and scrutinising the documents of the candidates to keep a check on impersonations. Brig Riazada was speaking on the concluding day of the week-long recruitment rally at Sunjuwan military station on the city outskirts. He, however, said Jammu district had topped the recruitment with maximum number of candidates taking part in the rally. "About 9,000 candidates from Jammu district alone participated in in the week-long rally as compared to Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda, Poonch and Reasi districts," he added. Brig Raizada said 25,000 youth from Jammu region turned up for the rally. "Ramban showed least number of participation due to inclement weather and climatic conditions," he added. He said militancy threat was not the reason behind less strength from Ramban-Reasi districts but it was due to poor climatic conditions. He said militancy had lowered down in these belts. "Seminars, rallies and various awareness programmes are the part of the annual schedule being organised to motivate youth to join the army,’’ the army officer informed.
