To create awareness, among the people in general and poor litigants in particular, about the aims and objects of the legal aid, a legal aid awareness camp was organized on the occasion of Legal Services Day at Government Higher Secondary School Mogla.
Mehmood Chowdhary Munsiff JMIC, who is also the Chairman of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, presided. Balwant Singh Tehsildar Kalakote, Inderjeet Sharma Bar President, Sahid Malik PO, SHOs of Dharmasal, Kalakote, Treyath and Principal of the School were among others present at the camp apart from locals including some sarpanches and panches.
Addressing the participants, the speakers highlighted the aims and objectives of the Legal Services Act and explained that under the scheme people belonging to SC/ST, OBC, Women, Children and others can get free legal aid for the cases pending in courts. They also explained the concept of Lok Adalat in which cases are settled through reconciliation, mediation, negotiations and mutual understanding.
