Allegations of corruption | J&K home deptt orders inquiry against Jail superintendent | | SUMIT SHARMA JAMMU, Feb 11: Jammu and Kashmir home department has directed IGP prisons to order attachment of Udhampur Jail Superintendent after glaring allegations of corruption surfaced against jail head. Sources said that home department vide order no. Home/15/jail/43/87/298 signed by Deputy Secretary Home has directed Inspector General (IG) Prisons MA Anjum to investigate allegations of corruption against former Jail Superintendent Udhampur with immediate effect. They added that order has been issued following complaints of corruption from staff of the district Jail against former district Jail superintendent Udhampur. Sources in home department said that while the IGP had to execute the order of Home department, similar complaints started flooding in from Central Jail Staff alleging there in that the same person had joined with his touts from previous posting. Sources identified them as Zaheer Ahmed, Naresh Kumar, Kashmiri Lal, Sharanpal Singh and Madan Lal, all police officials to get the jail head palm greased. It was alleged that the jail head directed Warden Naresh Kumar to exploit Nagar Singh alias Nago on one pretext or other to extract handsome amount. Nagar Singh alias Nago has been undergoing trial in the infamous Amandeep murder case. Son of Naresh has been working in the firm of Nago for the last ten years, sources informed and added that same plan had been foiled as the previous jail head had already filed a plea to shift Nago from Central Jail and on his plea, Nagar was shifted from the Central Jail.
