TADA court awards imprisonment to 8 militant supporters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 12 : Special Judge TADA/POTA Court Pawan Dev Kotwal today awarded eight years imprisonment to alleged sympathizers of militants. Special Judge TADA/POTA Court awarded eight years imprisonment to four persons namely Girdhari Lal, Harjeet Singh, Jagir Singh and Kuldeep Singh while other accused namely Krishan Lal, Ajit Singh and Dev Dutt have been awarded five years imprisonment after 20 years Trial. Accused Kuldeep Singh died during the trial whereas accused Swarn Singh and accused Ashok Kumar alias Ashoka were declared absconders. It is worthwhile to mention here that Girdhari Lal accused as per his statement has crossed age of 75 years and similarly the other accused persons who were almost in prime youth have now grown older during the pendency of Trial. Court while awarding sentence observed that keeping in view totality and circumstances of the case, Court is of the view that minimum sentence be provided to the accused as they have faced trial for about 20 years and awarded above said imprisonment and ordered all the sentences to run-currently.
