J&K committed uplift downtrodden sections of society: Bhalla

JAMMU, Feb 12: Reiterating coalition government’s commitment to provide better civic amenities to the people, Minister for Revenu Raman Bhalla said that massive development activities have been launched across the state to ensure safe drinking water, better sewerage, lanes and drains and hygienic surrounding.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the people after laying foundation of various development works including road widening, construction of deep drain and culvert at Model Town Sector No.1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in Gangyal, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakh. Bhalla said that long pending demand of the people has been redressed, adding that necessary instructions have been given to the concerned engineers to complete the works within stipulated time frame.
He asked the people to personally monitor the quality of ongoing development works in their respective areas adding that need for public involvement in the developmental activities and said that without their cooperation the objective of the government of taking state’s development tempo to new highs cannot be achieved.
Minister said an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of developmental schemes. He said coalition Government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has introduced various reformative measures to extend improved basic amenities to the people of the State especially those living in rural and far-flung areas.
Bhalla informed that the government has earmarked Rs. 40 lakh for construction of multipurpose community hall at Industrial Estate in Digiana adding that the construction work would be completed by December 2011 this year. He informed the hall would be constructed on modern lines in providing kitchen, parking and drinking water facilities.
