Adopt self-employment for dignified livelihood: Malik | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 12: With a view to create awareness about various central and state employment schemes amongst youth of the State, District Employment and Counseling Centre, Jammu today organized a 3-day mega Employment Fair at Akhnoor. The fair was jointly inaugurated by Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik and Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma. Addressing the gathering, Malik said that aim of organizing the employment is to create awareness amongst the youth of the Akhnoor area about the various employment schemes so that they can avail the benefits of these schemes. He said that government jobs are not possible for all and youth should go for establishing their own income generating units for which host of attractive incentives including subsidy are available. Maintaining that there is great scope of employment in the private sector, the Minister said that over 13 lakh youth of the State are engaged in the private sector and earning their dignified livelihood. He apprised the youth that experts of various government departments and banks will guide them about the formalities for establishing the income generating units which are viable in the area and they should avail optimum benefits of these. He asked the youth to get themselves registered with the concerned employment and counseling centers to facilitate the government to maintain transparent record of the unemployed youth. Sham Lal Sharma said that poultry, sheep husbandry and fisheries are also quite viable projects in the area and youth should adopt these activities in a big way. He said that government is keen to promote private sector in the State and youth should show interest in the activities. He said that State’s economy can be enhanced only with the active participation of the private sector for which various steps have been initiated. He said that government is establishing marketing facilities at tehsil headquarters for the facilities of farmers as their local products will be procured by the government from their doorstep.
