“Display Your Talent” begins JU
On spot painting, sketching competitions conducted on inaugural day

The week Inter- Collegiate and Inter –Departmental extravaganza “Display Your Talent” began at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu (JU) here today. The event is being organised by Department of Students Welfare (DSW), JU. On the first day of the event, on spot painting and sketching competitions were conducted. Prof. N R Sharma, Chairman Campus Cultural Committee inaugurated the competition. Dr. P S Pathania, Dean Students Welfare was also present on the occasion.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Sharma exhorted the younger generation to participate in the extra-curricular activities with enthusiasm as these play an important role in the all round development of the personality. Expressing happiness over the encouraging number of participants Sharma informed that in addition to the students from the PG departments of the University and local colleges, the students from Doda, Udhampur, Billawar, Phinter, Samba and Akhnoor. Dr. Pathania also spoke on the occasion and hoped that all possible cooperation and support shall be received from the Students, Teachers, Heads and Principals in the best interest of the student community.
Today’s competitions held in two different sessions. In the first session, on the spot painting competition on the topic “Landscape, Any Festival and Terrorism” was conducted in which a total of 43 students participated. Rajinder Pal Singh of Institute of Music and Fine Arts was adjudged first, whereas Seerat Hussain of Law Department and Chaitali Mahato of GCW Gandhi Nagar secured second and third position respectively in the competition. In the second session, sketching competition was conducted in which a total of 40 students participated. Rajinder Pal Singh of Institute of Music and Fine Arts again bagged first prize, whereas Rekha Mahajan of Jammu College of Physiotherapy and Seerat Hussain of Law Department secured second and third position respectively in the competition.
Earlier, Dr. Shohab Inayat Malik, Asst Dean (SW) welcomed the guests and the participants. The programme was attended by Heads of teaching Departments of University, Principals of the affiliated colleges and number of students from colleges and University.
