Bhalla launches Rs 36 lakh development works

JAMMU, Feb 13: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said people’s participation is imperative in developing every nook and corner of the State on modern lines adding that coalition Government is very keen to provide all civic amenities like drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, education and healthcare facilities to
every section at their doorsteps.
The Minister was speaking after launching various development works included construction of lanes and surface drains at Digiana Pulli and Preet Nagar besides 450 meter long deep drains from Digiana Pulli to Digiana Ashram, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 36 lakh. Bhalla informed that Rs 23 lakh have been distributed among 23 State Subject homeless urban poor of his constituency for construction of
their dwelling units under Basic Services to Urban Poor Scheme (BSUP). He appealed the left out State Subject poor lot to approach JMC authorities and fulfill all the codal formalities so that the relief under BSUP could be disbursed among them.
Bhalla impressed upon the officers to maintain transparency in the distribution of central and state financial assistance among the needy, besides ensuring its timely disbursement. Minister said the Government has earmarked Rs. 55 lakh for construction of cremation ground near Kalika Colony on the right bank of river Tawi. He said
that the Government has sanctioned Rs. 3.5 crore for developing the river Tawi embankments near Peer Kho temple which include construction of parks, tourist reception centre, artificial lake adding that Rs. 90 lakh have been kept for construction of view points and road widening from Bahu Fort to Harki Poudi temple.
Later, as a part of 634th birth anniversary of Guru Rabi Dass Ji, the Guru Rabi Dass Sabha Management Committee, Bahu Fort organized a religious function where Bhalla was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the Minister threw light on the life of Guru Ravidass and said Guru Ji gave teachings on the lessons of universal
brotherhood and tolerance.
