Celebrating Valentine Day | Police paraphernalia in place to save the day for “love couples “ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 13: How much the spirits may go dampening on the Valentine Day tomorrow if the rain gods refused to hold on their fury, yet very smart and affective paraphernalia has been put in place by the police and state administration to keep a strict vigil on the trouble makers who may trying spoil the event for the couples. It is in place to mention here that since some of the local based organizations have time and again warned through the media to the celebrating couples to avoid the occasion as it being of foreign origin containing vulgarity into it, the police have geared up its machinery to safeguard all. Police will deploy additional number of police personnel in the city especially outside restaurants, parks, hotels and cinema halls so that people celebrate the day without any hassle. It said nobody will be allowed to take law in their hands and stern action will be initiated against “troublemakers” on Day. It would also keep a tight vigil on eve-teasers and chain or purse snatchers who, it said, generally become active on such days. A senior police official requesting anonymity told told this reporter *, “Police will not tolerate any kind of act violating the couples’ privacy and we have made necessary arrangements to teach these people a lesson who are claim to be the moral police.” “We are living a free country and no body is allowed to follow any kind of voyeurism in the name of moral policing. We will deploy additional cops outside parks, hotels, restaurants and cinema halls so that minimum decency is maintained,” he remarked. He disclosed additional deployment will be made in cities’ posh localities including Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Channi and anybody found in anykind of “spying” act to harass the couples or shooting their videos will be dealt under the law.” Shri Ram Sena (SRS) and some other rightwing groups have warned the couples for serious consequences if they resort to any kind of celebrations orimmorality on Valentine’s Day. Another senior police official wishing not to be named remarked, “We will register a case against the people who will either violate the individual’s privacy or resort to any kind of hooliganism in the name of moral policing.”
