3rd batch of Sericulture farmers leave for study-cum-training tour | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 13: The 3rd batch of Sericulture farmers from District Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur of Jammu division left for study-cum-training programme to Karnatka today. The study-cum-training programme has been organized by the Sericulture department under Centrally Sponsored Scheme” Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna” . The 2nd batch comprising 22 Sericulture farmers of Rajouri and Poonch districts is already undergoing study cum training programme at Karnataka . This study-cum-training programme has been organized to acquaint the silkworm rearers about the latest techniques of silkworm rearing and mulberry cultivation being practised in the southern states, especially in Karnataka which is a Sericulturally advanced State in the country. This type of exposure will make aware of the silkworm rearers about the importance of mulberry cultivation in their land holdings and the latest technologies by using which they can improve their cocoon crop qualitatively and quantitatively and develop a concept of multiple cropping. On the occasion, Additional Director Sericulture Jammu Dhanbir Singh advised the silkworm rearers to learn the techniques keenly to adopt the same to earn more by raising multiple cropping.
