| Gujjar-Mahasabha reiterates demand for political reservation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 14: Gujjar-Mahasabha has reiterated demand for granting political reservation to the Gujjar community at the earliest.
In a handout issued here today, Gujjar-Mahasabha has urged the assembly members of various political parties to discuss long pending demand of community in the ensuing budget session being held in the last week of February-2011. Sabha has further said that while the union government has already announced ST status for Gujjar, J&K government should follow suit and grant the same to the community at the earliest.
President of Akhil Bhartya Gujar Mahasbha (ABGM) Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal has impressed upon the state government to expand the functioning of the Directorate of Tribal Affairs at districts level and create a separate to look into the development schemes being sanctioned under Tribal-Sub Plan.
