JAMMU, Feb14: Emphasizing on need for resolution of Kashmir problem for lasting peace and economic growth of this region, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today warned that putting this sensitive issue under the carpet would prove counter productive.
Addressing a mammoth gathering of party workers here today, PDP leaders asserted that core issue of their party remains peaceful resolution of the problem of Jammu and Kashmir. “Since its formation, PDP has been aggressively advocating for the resolution of this problem and it would continue to strive for it through democratic means”, said PDP leaders while pointing towards party’s protest rally.
Braving heavy downpour and hostile weather conditions, hundreds of PDP activists from different parts of Jammu province participated in today’s rally to express their resolve to continue their peaceful campaign for the resolution of Kashmir problem. Cautioning the government against adopting delay tactics in solving this problem, PDP leaders said that it is high time to take some bold initiatives to bring peace in this region.

Asserting that party would continue its campaign to protect dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, PDP leaders demanded that draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) should be immediately revoked. They further said that for removing trust deficit, it is necessary to stop innocent killings and visible actions on the reduction of forces in the civilian areas.
Party also demanded opening of Jammu-Sailkote, Bandipore-Gurez-Gilgit, Chhamb Jourian-Mirpur, Nowshere-Mirpur-Kotli and Teetwal-Chilhan routes. Those who addressed the rally included vice president of the party Trilok Singh Bajwa, general secretary Balbir Singh, MLA Mendhar Rafiq Hussain Khan, MLA Darhal Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin, Murtaza Khan, MLC and Asgar Ali, MLC,
