Summer unrest | J&K minister lauds Kashmir health deptt | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 14: Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma today lauded the role of doctors and Para-medical staff during the last year's summer unrest which left over 100 people dead and thousands others injured. ''Despite five months long unrest in the valley, doctors and Para-medical staff provided 24 hours medical facilities to the patients which is a major achievement of the department,'' Minister said while reviewing the functioning of health sector at a high-level meeting here. Minister also hailed efforts of medical staff posted in Ladakh and Doda districts. ''Notwithstanding the hardships and other difficulties, the medical staff of Ladakh and Doda is also doing well in providing better health cover to people,'' he said. Sharma, however, stressed upon the health officers especially doctors and paramedical staff to make every effort to provide all possible better medicare to the patients and described it a noble job. Earlier, Director Health services (DHS) Kashmir, Mohammad Amin informed the minister that 31 projects for upgradation of health facilities are under construction at a cost of Rs. 25 crore of which Rs. 21.13 crore have been spent so far.
