Make PDS corruption free: Tarigami | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar. Feb 14 : The CPI (M) state Secretary and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami, has expressed anguish over the shortage of essentials and deteriorating public distribution delivery system in the Valley. In a statement he said, “Peoples concerns are being ignored and Public Distribution System has got defunct in the state. Government being alive with the miseries of the people is not in a mood to infuse responsiveness and accountability in its machinery to solve the problems of the people.” Questioning the working of the Public Distribution System Tarigami alleged the system was corrupt. “There are instances of pilferages and bungling day in and day out. Such a trend of mal-practices was causing scarcities, black-marketing, hoarding and profiteering, thereby telling upon the economies of the common man.” “Hunger can’t wait,” Tarigami said and urged the government to take immediate measures for arranging required stocks of ration from the centre to benefit the uncovered population under PDS. “Stabilizing the food economy both at national and state level by attending the core areas of agricultural sector and upgrading support price and other facilities to the farmers was essential to balance the demand and supply in food market,” he said.
