Dy CM flags off Janmabhoomi Express train | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Feb 14: Central and State Governments are committed to provide railway connectivity facility to all the districts headquarters of the state including Rajouri and Poonch districts for which the survey is under process. This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today before flagging off 19107/19108 Udhampur - Ahmedabad Janmabhoomi Express Train (Weekly) from Udhampur Railway Station. While appreciating the India Railways, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the concept of Janmabhoomi Express trains has been introduced in the railway budget, 2010-11, in which these trains specially run for defence personnel as well as civilians in view of Udhampur being Headquarter of Northern Command of the Army. The train service would facilitate tourists who visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi holy cave and promote pilgrims tourism in the State, he said. The Deputy Chief Minister said the Jammu and Kashmir State is advancing day by day in every field like health, education, agriculture, horticulture etc as government has focused on building massive infrastructure in all the vital sectors. Tara Chand also exhorted the Railway authorities to arrange for additional coaches in Jammu- Hardwar train including first class AC coaches to fulfill the requirement of Hardwar pilgrims. He also stressed the Railway authority to speed up the construction work of Udhampur to Katra Railway line, which he said will facilitate Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine-bound pilgrims. General Manager, Northern Railway Mr. S.K. Budhalakoti said that Udhampur-Ahmedabad weekly Janmahoomi would depart from Udhampur on every Monday at 8.50 P.M for Ahmedabad. MLA, Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia was a lso present on the occasion.
