Comprehensive plan to organise tourism promotion events: Jora

JAMMU, Feb 14: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora on Monday chaired a meeting of the representatives of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) and State Tourism Department functionaries convened to draw a road map for tourism promotion activities during the upcoming season.
The meeting held threadbare discussions on the schedule and venues for yearlong promotion of activities proposed by ATOAI, which include holding of conventions, exhibitions , Cultural evenings, spot seeing for trekking and other adventure tourism related activities . The meeting also called for maintaining close coordination between the association, the state tourism department functionaries and local tour and travel operators. The meeting was informed that ATOAI would also rope in foreign tour operators in the promotion activities.
Addressing the meeting, Jora assured the ATOAI representatives of every help from the state government, including provision of adequate space and venue for holding conventions and other related events.
The state government has drawn a comprehensive calendar to organize tourism promotion events by roping in the stakeholders and key players in the trade at state, national and international level, the minister added
Jora said the government was keen to promote tourism by attracting conventional, adventure, pilgrim, heritage tourists for which the state has great potential. He said various places along Mughal Road, besides Dood Pathri, Yousmarg, Bangus and Lolab Valleys in Kashmir and
Bhaderwah, Poonch Rajouri, Kishtwar, and other places of Jammu have been brought on the tourism map of the state.
Minister of State for Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani, besides Special
Secretary Tourism, Altaf Hussain, Managing Director, JKTDC, Satish
Nehru, President ATOAI Tajbir Singh Anand and other representatives of the Association attended the meeting.
