| Div Com discusses functioning of ALC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 14- Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today convened a meeting with the Board members of Artificial Limb Centre (ALC), Government Medical College, Jammu regarding the functioning or issues pertaining to the Centre.
The meeting was informed that the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) will work at the ALC for the benefit of the handicapped population of the State. The ICRC responded by suggesting forming an ALC board of directorate, an independent body which would provide direct advice and take care of the future management of the centre. The board of directors and the Manager are key elements enabling a well functioning and a sustainable ALC at GMC. It was decided that the ALC Board of Director will meet quarterly.
It was also informed that International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will provide technical, financial and managerial support, Jammu Civil Society will launch awareness campaign, patients identification etc besides GMC to provide accommodation, staff etc and Indian Red Cross Society will provide local material etc.
Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon the officers to work on war-footing to facilitate a well functioning ALC besides providing their support and dedication for the successful functioning of the limb centre. He asked to prepare a budget for the expenses involved for the smooth running of the centre and the same will sent to CRC through Social Welfare department Jammu.
Among others, Principal GMC Dr. Rajinder Singh, ADC Jammu Sheetal Nanda, HOD Ortho Dr. Sudesh Sharma, Physical Rehabilitation Programme Manager, ICRC Achille Otou, representatives from Handicapped Welfare Association and other concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Jammu, Vice Chairman JDA, Joint Commissioner, Jammu, SE PWD R&B, Deputy Transport Commissioner, RTO Jammu, SP South, Jammu and other senior officers of concerned department attended the meeting.
