| Army vehicles ambushed | | Civilian killed, 4 army jawans among 5 injured | |
Srinagar, Nov. 11 While a civilian driver was killed, more than four army personnel were injured in two separate attacks by militants in Baramulla and Anantnag districts. Sources revealed that militants ambushed a civilian vehicle, hired by army jawans, in Dangiwacha area of the Baramulla district, late last night. Militants, whose number was not known, fired indiscriminately on the vehicle killing the driver of the vehicle on the spot, defence sources said. Identified as Bashir Ahmad, the driver was a local resident of the area. Surprisingly none of the jawans traveling in the vehicle were injured in the attack. A large number of people staged a protest demonstration at Rafiabad in protest against the killing of the civilian. The protestors demanded that a complete ban should be imposed on the army to use civilian vehicles. Meanwhile, unidentified militants attacked an army convoy at Bonigam area of Qazigund on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, this evening. Sources said that four jawans and a civilian were injured in the attack. Reports revealed that the militants opened fire with automatic weapons on one of the vehicle in the convoy. Four jawans who were sitting in the vehicle received bullet injuries in the attack, reports added. Though the fire was returned militants managed to escape from the spot. The civilian injured in the attack has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Veer S/o Ghulam Qadir R/o Veer, Bijbehara. The area was immediately cordoned off and a search operation has been launched, while was in progress, Deputy Inspector General of Police Anantnag-Pulwama Rang Ram Kumar Lubhaya said.
