Police vacated 45 kanals of state land, 4 arrested

Jammu, Nov 11
Continuing its crackdown on the land grabbers, police today vacated prime land measuring more than 45 kanals at posh locality of Roop Nagar area, in the outskirts of Jammu, and arrested four property dealers in this regard.
Sources disclosed that a group of four persons today made an attempt to grab state land in the Roop Nagar area, which was however foiled by the police.
Interestingly, the land encroach was reported after a week, when the chief minister of the state Ghulam Nabi Azad announces crack down on land mafia’s of Jammu.
On receiving information about the encroachment, revenue officials, approached Police station Janipura and seek protection to vacate the land which they claim is revenue land.
A special team led by Station House officer (SHO) janipura, S S Bloria, under the supervision of SSP Jammu; Mukesh Singh went to the site and vacates the encroachers from the land state land.
Police has arrested all the four people allegedly involved in the land grabbing. Those arrested are Parbhat Kumar Honda S/O Shadi Lal Honda R/O Jain Bazar, Narinder Singh S/O Pritam Singh R/O Bishna, Vishal Sharma S/O Ravi Sharma R/O Muthi and Atul Naiyer S/O Ravi Naiyer R/O Julakha Mohalla Jammu.
“The land is ‘Khalasa Sarkar’ and no one would be allowed to encroach it” a revenue officer said.
He said that, the government has issued categorical instructions to all the revenue officials to demark all types of land which belongs to state in revenue record.
When contacted SHO Janipura, S S Bloria confirmed the arrest of four persons and added that on directions of SSP Jammu a special team was constituted, for the purpose of vacating the state land. “We have vacated almost forty five kanals of state land” Bloria said and added an FIR has been lodged in this regard.
It was reliably learnt that more than one hundred kanals of land has already been grabbed in the area, and same has been sold to different people after issuing a power of attorney. State, sources said state has hundreds of kanals of land in the area including forest land which is under illegal occupation of some blue eyed people.
“A Nallah that passes between Roop Nagar and Janipura has hundreds of kanals of land on its surroundings” said a local resident, alleging, the land has been grabbed in connivance of revenue officials.
