Thousands offer prayers at Valley's Hazratbal shrine | Eid celebrated with fervor across J&K | | Early Times Report Jammu Feb 16: A programme of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi was held under the chairmanship of peer Mian Mohd.Maqbool Naqshbandi(Gaddi NasheenDarbar-e-Yunisia) in the Gujar Colony Jamia Masjid Mosque, Jammu. A huge gathering from all over the state was present. Special prayers were held in this behalf. Peer Sahib gave life history accomplishment of Hazarat Mohd.S.A.W and spoke to the people of all castes and religion to follow the path of Paigambar. As the follow up, the celebrations of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi a big procession was held which originating from Gujar Colony Jamia Masjid passed through various city routes and culminated at Sarwal Chowk. Peer sahib prayed for better relations among the people of other community as well. Many ladies and children also participated in good number in the said procession. Braving cold and inclement weather, thousands of people offered prayers at Kashmir Valley's holiest Muslim shrine of Hazratbal in summer capital Srinagar to celebrate birthday of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Dressed in warm clothes, men, women and children converged at the shrine on the banks of the Dal Lake to have a glimpse of the Holy Relic (a hair of the Prophet's beard) after the namaz. Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated by Muslims throughout the world. Tastefully illuminated, marble dome of shrine shone as devotees prostrated themselves for prayers after which the Holy Relic was displayed by the custodian of the Relic at the shrine. Markets around the shrine and at many other places here have been illuminated to celebrate the occasion. There was a state-wide public holiday. Praying for penance, peace and prosperity, Muslims mingled with each other cutting across social, political and regional barriers. Sweetmeat shops have come up around the shrine where brisk business is done by sellers. State government had made elaborate arrangements of transport, sanitation, health care and security to facilitate the smooth arrival and departure of the devotees. "I have come from Kokernag village in Anantnag district. I have been regularly visiting the shrine on this day, since the age of 10 with my father," said Muhammad Rajab, 72, who offered prayers here. "Today, I have brought my grandson and granddaughter to carry forward the family tradition," he said.
