Two day international conference organized at Jammu University | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 17: School of Hospitality and Tourism Management organized two day International Conference on Sustainable Destination Excellence Innovations in Alternative Tourism (SDEIAT-2011) at Seminar Hall in MCA Department. Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora, was the chief guest on the occasion. While addressing the gathering, Jora remarked as how the University of Jammu has evolved as the center of excellence. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is again becoming the hub of the tourism activity and the government is lending full support by providing various progressive schemes He even talked about the partnership that J&K government is going to have with World Center of Excellence for Destinations (CED)- UNWTO supported Consultancy. Professor Andy Nazarechuck, Dean, UNLV Singapore University, Vice President of Asia Pacific Council on Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Education was the key note speaker. He gave a detailed presentation about Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education.
Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function. He highlighted that the idea of travel is about getting some where and that is scenario when destination becomes functionally important. In the end Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Organizing Secretary – SDEAIT 2011 presented the formal vote of thanks in which he extended his heart felt thanks to all the participants and the entire tourism fraternity for their wonderful support to make this intellectual gallery a grand success. He assured them that many more such initiatives will be undertaken in future too.
