| Mehbooba condemns attack on women | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Condemning latest strike by “unidentified gunmen” in Durhama village of district Baramulla, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today said such attacks on innocent and defense less people were un- acceptable.
In a statement issued, here today, she said that incident at Durhama comes close on heels of the killing of two girls at Sopore which has naturally added to the atmosphere of fear and terror in the valley. Mehbooba reiterated that no dignified people would allow such brazen attacks on their women folk and government has pathetically failed in stopping such incidents or bringing the culprits to book.
Earlier in similar incidents young women Nigeena, Reshmaa and Parveen from poor families were targeted in Shopian and Kellar areas. Mehbooba said that the phenomenon of “Unidentified gunmen” has resurfaced with installation of NC led Government. While they have activated Ikhwanis and SOG, in different areas, government has gone after the innocent youth on flimsy grounds and on the other hand it has unleashed official terror on different forms.
