| JU holds extension lecture on Urdu short stories | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb17: Urdu Department of University of Jammu (JU) under the aegis of Bazyafat program organized extension lecture on “Origin and Development of Urdu Short Stories”, here today.
Prof Majeed Muzmer was resource person on the occasion while Former HOD Buddhist Studies Prof. R.K.Mishra presided over function. While delivering, Prof Muzmer threw light on Urdu short stories and informed that this genre came into Urdu from Europe.
He disclosed that Prem Chand is the first short story writer who first started to write short stories in Urdu. Prof Muzmer also highlighted the some realities of life sketch of great Urdu short stories and their influence during Progressive Writers Movement.
HOD Urdu Prof Shohab Inayat Malik highlighted about the various activities of the Department and disclosed that the various reputed writers, producer and broadcaster of BBC will deliver lectures in Department during a function in next week.
