Indian army bravehearts inaugurate “Leap adventure camp’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 17: For the second year running, Jodhamal Public School is holding “LEAP”, the unique workshop on learning and personality development through adventure games at their school premises. The three-day workshop to be held from 18th to 20th February 2011, was formally inaugurated by two distinguished army personnel, Captain Bana Singh, (Retd.) Param Vir Chakra, and a school parent, Colonel Jitender Kumar, Shaurya Chakra, also a Braveheart himself. This “Braveheart” workshop will be conducted by a team of 20 professionals, led by Anit Sah, a widely acclaimed mountaineer who achieved the record feat of attempting Mt. Everest at the age of 16 years. The students witnessed an exciting demonstration of some of the activities which would form part of the workshop. The basic concept of this workshop is to develop greater self-confidence, self-reliance, interpersonal skills as well as a sense of responsibility for self as well as others. The workshop offers the students an opportunity to participate in a series of exciting activities involving mental, physical and emotional challenges. Some of the activities are wrappling, net climbing, rope techniques and mind games, which enhance their skills in the areas of leadership, motivation, teamwork, courage and communication. The “LEAP” instructors are professionally trained in adventure sports and safety techniques, and hold rich experience in having worked with 25000 school children of various schools till date. Safety of the children is kept in mind and necessary safety harnesses and belts are used during the sports.
