| GCW organize progaramme on “Biodiversity Conservation” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 17: Govt. College for women, Parade Ground, Jammu as Part of its science Club organized a program on “Biodiversity Conservation” under the “National Environment Awareness Campaign’ 2010-11 in collaboration with WWF-India, J&k.
Under the component of Awareness Generation amongst students, teachers and the general public, the college organized a guest lecture by Prof. B.L Kaul an eminent academician and environmentalist on “water and wet land conservation.”
Dr. Pragya Khanna, the organizing secretary of the program presented the welcome address
Subsequent to the lecture a rally was organized in students and staff participated holding banners, posters and placards signifying the importance of biodiversity and its conservation.
Dr. Sham Lal gupta directors colleges flagged off this rally.
The whole program was aimed at spreading knowledge regarding development and usage of eco friendly techniques to ensure long term conservation of natural resourses which is imperative to the survival of all life on the earth.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi, principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the science club in taking imitative and organizing such activities which not only educate the students but are also useful in creating mass awareness. The members of the science club, Prof. Poonam, Prof. Neeraj, Prof. Anita, Prof. Davinder and Prof. Shammi were also present on the occasion.
