Community Service Week concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 18: A week long programme on community development service including cleanliness drive, plantation programme and mass literacy campaign organised by Hill Peoples College of Education and Trainings concluded today. The community development service week commenced from February 11. A rally for cleaniness drive was flagged off by Mubina Maryam, Managing Director of the College on February 8. The rally comprising of faculty members, students and members of the management took off from college ground with the awareness banners and posters. The rally was culminated at village Bhalwal. The team of students engaged for cleanliness drive immaculate the place creating a sense of belongingness to mother earth under the able guidance of Kuldeep Sharma, Incharge NSS unit. The students entrusted with the job purged off the lanes that were overlapped with polythene bags,wrappers and waste plastics and as such contributed to improve the challenging environmental pollution factors. The other day, the day began with the significant drive for plantation. A group of students led by Dr Sharief set out towards the adjoining areas for saving and serving the mother nature. Yet, another momentous enterprise that was undertaken during the community service week was Mass Literacy Campaign which leads the people from “darkness to light” and from “ignorance to knowledge.” A large no. of B.Ed students under the patronage of Sheikh Mehrajuddin approached the masses in the surrounding hamlets to enlighten them with the glow of literacy.
