Azad thanks Jammuites for support

JAMMU, Feb 18: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that the central government is giving financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to 15 lakh to BPL card holders for treatment of dreaded diseases like cancer, heart, liver and kidney ailments.
Besides, families with a monthly income of Rs. 4000 to 5000 are also entitled for Rs. 40-50 thousand for minor ailments under the scheme. Azad was addressing a function of prominent citizens of civil society of Jammu organized by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand at his residence to convey gratitude to the people in general and Jammu in particular for making recent Gandhi Global Family function real success.
Azad appealed civil society and media as well to make people aware of such schemes so that the ailing humanity is benefited. Thanking people especially government employees of the state for their whole-hearted support to him during his two and a half year regime as Chief Minister of the state, he said that due to the support and cooperation the development scenario recorded a notable progress in all the three regions of the state.
He appreciated the hard work of employees of the state who even worked in double and triple shifts to speed up the pace of development works. Stressing on special attention towards remote and far-flung areas, Azad said that he always laid emphasis on development of border districts, backward areas and people living in peripheries of state.
Calling for full support to coalition government of the state, Azad appealed people to strengthen the hands of the government in speeding up pace of developmental activities. He stressed upon political leaders to serve the people without any reservation of caste, creed or colour.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand thanked the people for making, recently held, Gandhi Global function a success at Parade Ground, Jammu. He said people from different walks of life especially traders federations of Jammu attended the function with great enthusiasm. He assured the business class that their genuine problems would be solved in a phased manner.
Lauding the role of Union Minister Azad during his tenure as Chief Minister of the State, Tara Chand said that several major decisions were taken by the State Government under his leadership for providing lot of benefit to the people especially living in the rural and remote areas.
