| Follow teaching of Guru Ravi Dass: Akhoon | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister for Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon called for following the teachings of great saints and gurus like Guru Ravi Dass Ji whose 634th birth anniversary was celebrated throughout the country today.
Minister was addressing a congregation, organized by Guru Ravi Dass Sabha at Guru Ravi Dass Mandir, Kathua today. Akhoon said that selfless service to humanity is best service to almighty, adding that crux of all saintly teachings is to uphold universal humanistic values of truth, justice and piety to promote communal harmony.
He said the State and Central Governments have also launched several welfare schemes for upliftment of weaker and downtrodden sections of the society to ameliorate the lot. He urged the people to come forward for availing the benefits under these schemes.
Akhoon called upon the people to encourage honest and dedicated officials so that they can discharge their duties more efficiently adding that the officials indulging in corrupt practices and shirking from duties will be dealt with sternly.
Referring to the ration scam in Kathua, the Minister said that the inquiry in the matter is under progress and hoped that truth will come out soon. He said officials found responsible in the racket will be given exemplary punishment. A large number of devotees and the prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
