Sham visits shrine of Data Sher Singhji at Suhagpur | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma has asked people to follow teachings of Guru Ravi Dass in their life in real spirit to lead a peaceful and blissful life. Addressing a large gathering of devotees at a function organized to celebrate 634th Jayanti of Guru Ravi Dassji at Akhnoor, the Minister said that real tribute to this great spiritual saint will be to follow his teachings in real spirit. He said that Guruji throughout his life worked for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden people and spread the message of peace, tranquility and equality. Throwing light on the life and contribution of Guru Ravi Dassji, the Minister said that his teachings will remain as source of inspiration for the generations to come. He appealed the people to help the needy and serve the society with honesty and dedication. He asked for eradicating the social evils like dowry, consumption of wine, cigarettes and drug addiction which is increasingly engulfing the society. Need of the hour is to nurture the younger generation in such a way that they contribute for the nation building and work for strengthening the social values, which he observed are eroding fast. Earlier, the Minister also visited village Suhagpur in Arnia and participated in an annual Mela at the famous shrine of Data Sher Singh ji. He reviewed the arrangements made for thousands of devotees thronging the shrine from across the country. He also paid obeisance at the shrine and prayed for the peace and tranquility of the State. Health department also organized free health camp at the venue. Specialist doctors examined the patients and provided them free medicines.
