One man on two posts | PSC admonishes RTI applicant, refuses to reply | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 18: Kshitij Foundation has strongly condemned Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for not furnishing information sought by them through a properly filed RTI application. Addressing a press conference here today, State Convenor of Kshitij Foundation Narotam Sharma has strongly condemned PSC secretary for his arrogant behavior. Sharma said that Kshitij Foundation had filed an RTI application in PSC on November 6, 2010 seeking some information related to PSC examination but the same was denied to them. Sharma further added that after the 90 days period was over, PSC informed the RTI applicant that information cannot be furnished till the government notifies final selection list in the government gazette as per Rule 32 of J&K Public Service commission (Conduct of Examination) rules 2005. He alleged that it is violation of RTI act as the information should have to be provided within thirty days. He also condemned the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for merely giving statements. Sharma stressed that M.A.Bukhari is acting both as Secretary and Controller of Examination which is brute violation of norms. He abhorred irresponsible role of PSC officials in not providing the information on time and said that corrupt government officers and anti-social elements are scared to the RTI Act. Not only has this had the PSC not appointed any appellate authority as prescribed under the act. The much touted policy of transparency and E-Governance can be judged from the fact that PSC web-site has nothing to offer on RTI related information. Ranjeet Sharma, Dr. Permendra Singh and Dr .Birnder Singh, all members of the foundation were also present.
