| Malik, Dar call for fighting social evils | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 19: Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik and Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Javed Ahmad Dar today called upon the people to come forward and fight social evils to evolve a civilized society.
They were speaking at a function organized in connection with celebration of 634th Jayanti of Guru Ravi Dassji, at Reasi. Malik said that throughout his life saint Ravi Dass worked for ameliorating the socio economic lot of weaker section of the society apart from spreading the message of unity and brotherhood.
Minister said that contribution of Guru Ravi Dass and his teachings will remain a source of inspiration for the generations to come and appealed people to help the needy population of the society and make generosity and honesty as prime mission of their life.
Javed, while speaking on the occasion, said that Ravi Dass was a visionary saint, who all along his life advocated communal harmony, peace, brotherhood, tranquility and equality. He said the saint worked for upliftment of downtrodden sections of the society and travelled far and wide across the country for this noble cause. Programme was organized by Sanit Ravi Dass Maha Sabha Reasi.
