| IAY assistance distributed to 71 border migrant BPL families | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 19: Highlighting the targets and achievements of the scheme formulated under MGNREGA at village Bandi Chechian in block Poonch, a generalized information was disseminated by department of rural development among the people to get apprised about the same.
A mega awareness camp was organized on its account.
The one day convention was aimed at listening to the grass root problems of masses in their routine working and deliberating upon steps to further improve the scenario.
MLA Poonch Aijaz Ahmed Jan presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion BDO Poonch Aijaz Qaiser highlighted the targets and achievements of the scheme and informed the legislator regarding the nature of activities undertaken under MGNREGA in the current financial year and the progress achieved so far. He also informed the public about the basics of the schemes and the rights of labourers regarding the scheme.
He informed the MLA that more than 95% funds allotted till date have been utilized and efforts are on to get more funds released from centre to meet the demands of the general public.
On the occasion IAY assistance was distributed to the 71 border migrant BPL families of village Kerni in Mendhar sector of Poonch. In addition to that 64 BPL families of block Poonch two from each Panchayat were granted IAY assistance by the legislator after their names were cleared by Dahi Majlis organized at Panchayat level, IAY cheques amounting to Rs 30 lakhs were distributed on spot.
MLA Poonch while speaking on the occasion said that on the directions of chief minister Omar Abdullah an attempt is being made to provide a clean administration to the people of Poonch maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability and in that we have been successful to a considerable limit.
