| Militancy victims asked to approach DSOWs | | | Jammu, November 11 Rehabilitation Council, Social Welfare Department has asked the victims of militancy to contact their respective District Social Welfare Officers for availing of benefits of various schemes for their rehabilitation as detailed heretofore. The Rehabilitation Council has been assisting the victims of militancy right from 1995. Council receives funds from Union Ministry of Social Justice and empowerment and do release to all the Deputy Commissioners for further disbursement among the militancy hit victims. The council provides assistance to the victims of militancy for their rehabilitation which include, pension for widows and aged persons at the rate of Rs.500/- per month, Re-marriage assistance for young widows and marriage assistance for grownup daughters at the rate of Rs. 10,000/- per case, Pension for disabled and handicapped persons at the rate of Rs. 500/- per month, Reimbursement of tuition fee at the rate of Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 7000/- as maintenance allowance per annum (Scholarship for professional studies), Psychological Rehabilitation assistance and financial assistance in exceptional cases. In addition to above, the Council provides assistance to school going children rendered orphans due to violence through another scheme called “ASSIST” launched by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFHC) under the guidance of Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The scale of assistance would comprise Rs. 800/- per child per month in urban and Rs. 750/- per month per child in rural areas for the purpose of General Education. Also Rs.150/- per child per month in addition to the above assistance of Rs. 800/- for professional/ vocational education is being given. |
