Param FC wins opening tie in Rajiv Gold Cup | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 19: The young side of Param Football Club managed a solitary goal win over Jammu United in the inaugural match of the Ist Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by All J&K Indira Gandhi People’s Association, at GGM Science College ground, here today. Though the energetic side of Param, clad in black, dominated the field throughout but success eluded them. The strong defence of experienced Jammu United foiled every move initiated by Param Club in the 70-minute game. However, it was only in the 66th minute that all important goal came Param Club’s way through Sajjad. Now, Param shall be playing their next game of pre-quarterfinals on February 26 at 1 pm. In the opening match Suresh Gupta was referee while Nazir Ahmed, Ketan Kumar and Moon Madan were assistant referees. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma, who was accompanied by Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla. A host of other guests were also present in the inaugural function. FIXTURE: Vijay Club to take on 3 Nagas at 12 noon; NGR to meet Bhagat Singh Club at 1.30 pm; Sainik Colony Club to face Jammu Sports-A at 3 pm tomorrow.
