3 day police remand for Patwari

Jammu, Feb-19 :- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu AK Koul today granted three day police remand of Patwari Shabir Ahmed who was caught red-handed on February 18, 2011 by the Vigilance Organization while demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
Today Inspector Devinder Singh of VOJ filed an application with the prayer that accused Shabir Ahmed Patwari Halqa Badone be remanded to police custody for a period of five days and IO submitted CD file for perusal of the Court.
The court after hearing Senior PO appearing for the Vigilance and perused the medical record of the accused, CD file and the application, the accused has been booked under FIR No 3/2011 of P/S VOJ u/s 5(2) PC Act r/w section 161 RPC. After being caught red-handed along with the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 and was arrested on February 18, 2011. Senior Prosecuting Officer Suresh Sharma appearing for the Vigilance has submitted certain aspects of the case need to be investigated in the light of facts alleged by the complainant. Upon this Court observed that in view the seriousness of the matter and the stage of the investigation and other connected aspects feel that detention of accused in police custody is necessary to facilitate completion of investigation at earliest. Court granted three days police custody of accused for investigation/. Court directed IO that he shall ensure the medical check-up of accused after every 48 hours when and if need arises. The investigation shall be completed without any further delay, Court directed VOJ. JNF
