| Intellectuals, statesmen can ensure world harmony: Azad | | |
SRINAGAR, NOV 11 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has appealed to intellectuals, philosophers, writers and statesmen across the world to play a role in ensuring harmony among different religions to avoid a clash of civilisations.
"The situation at the world level is leading to a clash of civilisations," Azad and added, "If intellectuals, philosophers, writers and statesmen do not ensure harmony between different religions, the clash may devour humanity."
Azad said vested interests were trying to give Islam a bad name and a new impression was gaining ground with respect to Islam and terrorism.
He said the present generation has a role to play in erasing such impression and advised students to understand Islam in its true spirit which propagates truth, honesty, humility, compassion, grace and virtuousity.
Dwelling upon the doctrine of Kashmiriyat, Azad said it was based on secular and composite culture and so should be propagated at the national and international level. |
