| Construct Vaillo-Singhpora tunnel on priority: Zargar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 19: Working President CITU J&K and General Secretary Chenab Hydro Power Projects Workers Union Javaid Zargar in a statement here has expressed dismay over the dilly dallying tactics in respect of construction of Vailoo-Singhpora Tunnel inaugurated for construction some two years ago.
The construction of this tunnel would connect the entire Kishtwar and Doda districts with the valley which almost remains cut off for six months due to heavy snowfall. “It was after proper survey that construction of this tunnel was considered to be a vital communication link for Kishtwar-Doda with the valley through-out the year. It is surprised that the work has not been started as yet when the approach roads from both the sides i.e. Vailoo from Anantnag side and Singhpora from Chatroo Kishtwar side stand completely constructed and traffic worthy”, Zargar added. He said that districts Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban though being the sources of generation of hydel-power stand neglected in respect of regular electricity supply which amounts to denial of justice for the area and added that Blocks Thatri, Gandoh and Bunjwaha are the worst hit areas of districts Doda and Kishtwar in respect of erratic power supply and negligible health care services.
