CRPF initiates repair of Ravi bridge | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Feb 20:
The 121 Bn of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have taken the initiative to fill the large pot holes formed in the middle of bridge, which connects the state of Jammu Kashmir with the rest of the country, over river Ravi near Lakhanpur about 10 kms from here. The CRPF’s 121 Bn has pressed into service its men and machinery to fill the large patches, holes and other uneven spots on the bridge due to which several fatal accidents have occurred over the past some time. The CRPF 2nd-in-Command Vinay Kumar Tiwari said that the Ravi Bridge is a vital link which connects J&K with the rest of the country but its condition is turning from bad to worse with each passing day. Several thousands of vehicles including small and big move through the bridge but local administration never bothered to repair the bridge. The CRPF guarding the bridge on many occasions approached the district administration to improve the dilapidated condition of Ravi Bridge but to no avail. Sensing that another mishap could happen any time due to the worsened condition of the bridge, the CRPF 121 Bn came forward to fill the holes on its own, Tiwari said.On the occasion Deputy Commandan t Dheeraj Mishra and Assistant Commandant VK Shrivastav were also present
