Improving living standard of weaker sections Govt’s priority: Bhalla | | |

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said coalition Government is making all out efforts to improve the living standard of weaker population of the State through Indira Awas Yojana for rural homeless and Basic Services to Urban Poor schemes. The Minister was interacting with the locals at Ravi Dass Basti in Bahu Fort after inspecting the ongoing construction work of multipurpose community hall in the area, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh, here this afternoon. Bhalla said the Government is committed to provide all infrastructural facilities to the weaker sections of the society across the State. Bhalla informed that the Government has sanctioned Rs. 75 lakh for construction of play field near Government Higher Secondary School Bahu Fort adding that on its completion, the local youth can have sports facilities at their doorsteps. He said the Government has earmarked Rs. 55 lakh for construction of cremation ground near Kalika Colony on the right bank of river Tawi. He said Government has sanctioned Rs. 3.5 crore for developing the river Tawi embankments near Peer Kho temple, which include construction of parks, tourist reception centre, artificial lake adding that Rs. 90 lakh have been kept for construction of view points and road widening from Bahu Fort to Har ki Poudi temple. Later, Bhalla also visited Gandhi Nagar and inaugurated ‘Metro Style Garments Showroom’ established by a local unemployed youth Ankush Sharma. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla asked the unemployed youth of the State to take full benefits of various employment schemes.
