Bomai killing anniversary | Guilty soldiers still not punished | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 20 Two years after chief minister, Omar Abdullah, promised stern action against the guilty soldiers involved in a firing incident in Bomai Sopore in 2009 which left two youths dead, the aggrieved families are still waiting for justice. The Army’s 22-RR had allegedly killed Amin Tantray, and Javed Ahmad Dar of Muslim Peer, Sopore on February 21, 2009. The chief minister had promised of stern action against the culprits then and asked the investigating officer to complete the report within 15 days. Police had filed FIR number 73/09 under section 302 in the incident. Sources said that the chief minister had requested the Ministry of Defence to allow the state government to proceed against the guilty soldiers. “However, the state government received no response from the Defence Ministry,” they added. Muhammad Islami Dar, father of Javed said, “The Chief Minister had promised that guilty would be punished in 15-days. But two years have passed since then, no action has been taken.”
