Government’s apathy adding to the woes of Bhaderwah residents | | | Mohammed Majid Malik Bhaderwah, February 20 Tall claims of the government seem baseless when it comes to redress the miseries of the common man. Where the government leaves no chance to boost off its achievement, the people of Bahderwah, a small hamlet in district Dodo are confronting many problems as most of the offices are running short of staff. This town of the former Chief Minister, Gulam Nabi Azad is facing many problems as most of the offices are running short of staff. About 29 posts of the specialists are lying vacant at SDH Bhaderwah and most of the patients have to move out of Bhaderwah for consultation. Not only this, all the posts of the sanitary inspectors are lying vacant due to which the working of the Ur ban Local bodies has literally came to a stand still. Same is the fate of most of the departments. The All India Radio, which was established with much enthusiasm in the town in early 90s, is also running short of staff. It is being run by 6 to 7 employees and the height is that there is no journalist employed with the station. “There is lot to-do here. Almost there is some problem or the other with every Department. For instance, if we take an example of the All India Radio, five years back, the station officer engaged some local teachers as announcers with AIR, and the fact is that no application was ever invited for those posts. These teachers are drawing salaries both from the education department as well as from the Radio Station, which surely calls for an inquiry”, says Kabir Malik, a social activist He maintained that similar is the case with the Information Department as a single orderly is running the whole show and all other posts are lying vacant for quite a long time now. Even the people of that area rue, that the government property is being misused. “Computers were provided to all the Higher Secondary Schools of Bahderwah but most of the computers are either lying in the stores or they are fixed at the residences of the staff members of theinstitutions”, says a resident of Bhaderwah. “Last year, when Education Minister visited Doda, he assured the people that all ITI Diploma holders, who had done COPA, will be adjusted for teaching computer to students in all schools but nothing has been done so far. The irony is that, even there is no governmental accommodation for most of the offices. Atleast 80 percent of the government offices are running from the private buildings. Moreover, the height is that the post of SSP Doda is lying vacant for the last one and a half month. It seems that neither the department nor the government is concerned over the security of the people”, says Mast Nath Yogi, a resident of the town. “There are so many educated unemployed youth in the area, but besides that people from outside were adjusted in the University, without any particular reason”, alleged Koshal Dogra, President Bhaderwah Development Forum. Strong resentment is brewing up among the local populace because they allege that the government has altogether neglected the town for the reasons best known to it. This beautiful town with a considerable population is lacking due to so many reasons. Where the unemployment is increasing with every passing day, the vacant post in the various departments in the town speaks volumes about the negligent approach of the government towards this area.
