| Sham asks younger generation to maintain age old ethos | | |

Describing Guru Ravi Dass as champion of equality, human dignity and great spiritual saint of his times, the Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma has said that people should follow the teachings of this great saint and lead the peaceful life. The Minister was speaking at an impressive function organized to celebrate Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti at Rajpora, here today. Saying that Guru Ravi Dass throughout his life worked for the upliftment of weaker sections and served the humanity selflessly, the Minister maintained that he enlightened the masses to eradicate various social evils from the society and adopting the path of truthfulness. Maintaining that younger generation is distancing from the basic ethos of rich heritage and moral values taught by our forefathers and great saints, the Minister said that efforts should be made to promote these value based teachings for peace and prosperity of society. Expressing grave concern on the female foeticide, the Minister said that this is biggest crime in the society and collective efforts are required to be made to curb this menace. The children of different schools and famous artists presented cultural programme and bhajans, highlighting the social evils, which were highly applauded by the audience. Minister gave away prizes to the children who excelled in academic and cultural activities. The Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Rajpora felicitated the Minister by offering him traditional Dogra turban. The Sabha also felicitated ex-Corporater, Manmohan Singh and various other dignitaries associated with the social works.
