| Slathia distributes IAY cheques in Vijaypur, Purmandal | | |

JAMMU, Feb 20:
Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjeet Singh Slathia today distributed cheques amounting to Rs. 28.62 lacs to the houseless families of Vijaypur and Purmandal blocks for construction of their residential houses under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY).
Addressing a public gathering at village Jakh in Vijaypur today, Slathia said that the Government is endeavoring to uplift socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the State, adding that various reformative measures have been taken to push forward the
overall development.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister said that preservation of water bodies and beautification of pond in Jakh area would be taken up soon. He said that necessary steps would be also taken for upgradation of power scenario in the area. He assured that the construction of boundary wall of Higher Secondary School Jakh,
Main Nallah and lanes and drains will be also taken up. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated Community Facility Centre Sangwal constructed at a cost of Rs 8.53 lakh by Rural Development Department. On the occasion, the Minister interacted with the locals and listened to their day to day problems and developmental needs. He assured them
that all their genuine demands would be mitigated in a phased manner.
