Government to revive JAKFED: Rather

JAMMU, Feb 21: Assuring that the Government would take every possible measure to bring the JAKFED out of red, the Minister for Finance AR Rather today enjoined upon the management of the organization to update its balance sheet to pave way for its business planning on viable and sustained basis.
Speaking at a high level meeting held here today, on the directions of the Chief Minster to solve various problems and difficulties confronting the JAKFED, Rather said strenuous efforts and hard work was needed to bring this once a premier institution back on rails adding that it which has served the people of the state for a long period.
The Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal was also present.
Rather advised the management of the JAKFED to introduce Golden
Handshake Scheme (GHS) approved by the Cabinet to reduce its idle wages adding that 271 employees of J&K Industries Ltd, have already availed benefit of this attractive scheme.
He also suggested for diversification of business activities in the organization to increase its revenue generation on profitable basis.
He assured that all possibilities would be explored for its revival and strength.
The meeting decided that compensation for 4 kanals of land of the
JAKFED transferred to Notified Area Committee, Bari Brahmina, Jammu would be paid as per the prevalent market rate there. It was also decided that the matter regarding restoration of the fertilizer handling business solely by the JAKFED would be considered at appropriate level.
