Govt attitude dictorial: BJP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 21: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today strongly condemned high-handedness and repressive measures used allegedly by police against agitating government employees. In a handout issued here today, state Chief spokesperson and National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh has termed the government attitude dictatorial and not conducive with the spirit of democracy. He called upon the state authorities to immediately address the genuine demands of the employees and fulfill the promises made to them. He alleged that government diffuses the employees stir by setting a deadline to pay their pending arrears and thereafter backs out from its commitment. Dr. Singh added that while employees are not even paid their salaries regularly, the state-ups are squandering state exchequer for maintaining their lavish lifestyle, renovation of bungalows, unaccounted travel expenses and misuse of state aircraft for personal whims and fancies. Dr. Singh said that employees have been agitating for arrears under Sixth Pay Commission, abolition of pay anomalies and regularization of daily wage and contractual employees. He added that employee leader are not only within their right to demand legitimate dues but also payment of arrears to pensioners who were economically more constraint after superannuation, he added. |
