Forest XI wins 4-3 in tie-breaker, enter semis | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 23 : Outplaying an equally good side of Food and Supplies in tie-breaker 4-3, the energetic side of Forest XI today moved into the semi-finals of the ongoing 2nd Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by Youth National Conference at GGM Science College ground, here. Earlier, the 90-minute game ended in a goalless draw with both sides making attacks and counter attacks but without any results. Later, in tie-breaker process, the penalty kicks were extended to eight after the five chances given to either side could not decide the fate of the quarterfinal. However, at the end of the day, Forest XI emerged winners making it a 4-3 on the board. From winners, Forest XI, Manzoor, Ashiq, Nawaz and Rizwan were successful in their attempts on the net while Gouhar Jaan, Nazim Zusuf, Taufiq and Shahid missed. Similarly, from Food and Supplies, Iqbal, Imran and Amir could only convert their kicks into goal. Azaz, Wasim, Zahangir, Aishan and Arshad failed to dodge the goal-keeper. Today’s match was officiated by Nazir Ahmed (centre), Rajib Dev, Rakesh Kumar and Ronny Yellop. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played on February 25, Forest XI shall take on Vijay Club at 2.30 pm. FIXTURE: J&K Police faces J&K Bank in semi-finals at 2.30 pm tomorrow.
