Slathia, Sham inaugurate NRHM Sammelan at Samba

JAMMU, Feb 23: In order to popularize National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) amongst the common masses, the District Health Society, Samba today organized a one-day mega Sammelan at Samba.
In his address, Salathia said that coalition government is committed to upgrade the basic facilities in every nook and corner of the State. He said that government has accorded topmost priority to the health sector and during the past two years, this core sector has received focused attention. Various reformative measures have been taken to improve this important sector, he maintained.
Lauding the performance of the health department particularly in Samba district, Slathia said that considerable improvement has been witnessed in all the health institutions with the greater involvement of its employees. He hoped that with the missionary efforts of each employee and able leadership of health Minister, Sham Lal Sharma, the department shall touch new heights in the coming times.
Sham Lal Sharma highlighted the importance of flagship programme NRHM, adding that this ambitious programme has helped the State Government to improve the health facilities in the rural and far-flung areas. He said that awareness about the ingredients of this important programme amongst the masses is mandatory so that its benefits reach out to the targeted population.
Minister said that similar workshops will be organized in every district and tehsil headquarters to hone the skills of ground level workers like ASHAs and ANMs to implement the programme at the ground level so that benefits of the programme reach to the needy. He said that role of ASHAs in checking the mortality rate of mother and child is very important and they should work with extra zeal and dedication to motivate the pregnant women in the rural areas for ensuring institutional deliveries for which the government provide attractive incentives to the ASHAs as well as mothers.
Minister for Industries Surjit Singh Slathia and Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma inaugurated the event. Minister of State for Health & Medical Education, Javid Ahmed Dar, Vice Chairperson, SC Advisory Board, Smt. Swarn Lata, MLA, Samba, Yashpal Kundal, Deputy Commissioner, Mubarak Singh, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Rakesh Khajuria, Director Health Services, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Controller Drugs & Food Control Organization, Satish Gupta, Project Director, J&K AIDS Control & Prevention Society, Dr. Wasim Qureshi, Director Horticulture, J.L.Sharma, doctors, para-medics, ANMs, Anganwari Workers and ASHA workers of Samba districts were present on the occasion.
