Bhalla inaugurates Patwar Khana Complex at Ghagwal

JAMMU, Feb 23: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla has said Samba district is being developed in all respects to showcase it as a major attraction for the devotees and tourists visiting the state adding that government has earmarked Rs. 2 crore for construction of wayside facilities like shops, parking slots, waiting hall and public convenience on available 16 kanals Government land near Chichi Mata temple in the district.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the officers after kick starting the construction works of the project near Chichi Mata temple in Samba district, here this afternoon. Bhalla asked the executing agency to complete all the works according to proposed site plan prepared by district administration well before the start of Shri Amarnath Yatra. He said the Yatra to Shri Amarnath will start from June, 2011.
The Minister further said the Government is also embarking on a plan to develop the historical places in twin capital cities of the State and its peripheral towns, adding that the development of famous Mubarak Mandi Complex as a Dogra heritage site is one of the major project in this direction. He hoped these would become a source of attraction for the tourists and help in diverting those visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji and Shri Amarnath ji shrine towards these attractions.
Earlier, the Minister also inaugurated Patwar Khana Complex at Ghagwal, constructed by Rural Development Department under Revenue sector at an estimated cost of Rs. 3 lakh.
To facilitate the people of peripheral areas of the State, Bhalla said Government is formulating a comprehensive plan for establishment of Niabats, Model Record Rooms and Patwar Khanas in every nook and corner of the State adding that on the establishment of revenue offices, the revenue related issues of the locals could be solved at their doorsteps.
Regarding compensation to drought hit families, Bhalla asked the Revenue Officers to submit the lists of affected families of the State so that the compensation could be disbursed among them through public darbars in their respective areas. He said due to the concerted efforts of coalition Government, the central Government has approved Rs. 90 crore package for immediate distribution of relief to the affected.
On the complaint of locals, the Minister directed the DDC, Samba and his team to immediately rush to the spot and retrieve the 485 kanals of encroached Kacharee land from grabbers and fence it. He appealed the people of the State to identify name and place of the encroached State and EP land in their vicinities so that the land could be retrieved from land mafia.
At Jammu, the Minister visited Kalika Colony in Bahu Fort, Kothey Juma Ram Mohalla and Kullay Kothey in Chatha pind and kickstarted various development works including construction of nallah embankments, lanes and drains. The works would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 34 lakh. He asked the executing agencies to complete all the works within stipulated time frame.
