| Rule of law not self rule : S.S.Lehar | | | Jammu Nov 11 The need of the time is the rule of law and the problem of Kashmir is that there is no strict enforcement of the rule of law in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by senior advocate of Supreme Court of India in an interactionary session with the leaders of Janta Dal (United) and prominent citizens of Jammu at Press Club here today. He further said that those who violate the law are given the protection of law and national element is being discouraged. He further said that there cannot be any reversal to the accession of J&K state and unfortunately the young generation is being taught that there is a dispute with respect to Kashmir. The Govt of India as well as the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir have failed in their duty to inform the people and the young generationregarding the instrument of accession in its true spirit,he added. It was in the ye ar 1952 that a constituent Assembly was created in the state of Jammu of Kashmir which ushered in the Constitution of the Jammu and Kashmir state , completely endorsing the instrument of Accession ,and it was the constuent assembly of the state of Jammu and Kashmir state which made the Accession final and the process irreversible. He further said that it is strange that the people discuss about th Self Rule without any document and the things are discussed in air and debate is going on a non existent document, he added. He launching a scathing attack on PDP,Congress and BJP for the promises made to the poor people but instead they enhanced the salary of their party MLA’S .People have forgotten the supreme sacrifice given by Mohd.Maqbool Sherwani who saved the state of Jammu and Kashmir going in the hands of Pakistan.,he added. Those who talk of self rule are under an obligation to tell the people that in whole of the country the tenure of the Assembly is five years ,but ther is a separate Constitution for Jammu and Kashmir state ,so the term of the Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir is Six years and this is for the benefit of the legislatures and not the common people. The state of Jammu and Kashmir has its own laws but not protected and it is strange that after 60 years of independence, we could not have any police agency of our own which could investigate the famous Sex Scandalcase,he said. The need of the hour is the rule of the law must prevail upon and the so called non existent Self Rule, he concluded. Others who were present include Aafaque Ahmed Khan, National Sec, Janta Dal (United), Inder Mohinder Singh, working president, S.P. Magotra and A.K.Braru.
