Interlocutors recommendations on autonomy, self rule will not be acceptable: BJP, others

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb23: Taking serious exception to the style of functioning of the interlocutors some mainstream political parties, social and religious organisations and Kashmiri Pandit bodies have questioned the style of their functioning.
The BJP which was called by interlocutors to meet them at a short notice this morning turned down the offer on the plea that the Party leaders will not be available on such a short notice. The Party state chief Shamsher Singh Manhas criticised the interlocutors for not extending the invitation to it a day in advance.
``It was difficult for us to meet the interlocutors at such a short notice as the senior party leaders were already pre-occupied with their party engagements’’ said a senior Party leader. While criticising the interlocutors he said that they have created a mess in the state by meeting every Tom, Dick and Harry who have no political and organisational base.
Whosoever writes them and seeks an interview is given the audience, he said, adding the mainstream organisations representing the national point of view are ignored. The BJP leader while criticising their role and functioning said that the separatists are more important for them than the mainstream leaders and they avoid to meet us.
The Pary also warned that any recommendation in their report suggesting the acceptance of the demand of autonomy and self rule to please the separatists which is harmful to national interests will not be acceptable to the nationalist forces in the state who stand for total integration of the state with rest of the country, abrogation of Article 370 and empowerment of Jammu and ladakh regions.
The VHP, Shiv Sena, J&K Peoples Front and KP bodies have also criticised the interlocutors style of functioning. A Sena leader told Early Times that interlocutors met every organisation in Kashmir Valley but hesitated to meet the Sena and other Hindu minded organisations. This way they are trying to project only the one sided view and picture of the problem ignoring the sufferings of Hindus of the state including the KPs who are the main victims of turmoil in Kashmir.
Blaming the Union Government of creating another confusion in the state with the appointment of interlocutors a leader of Panun Kashmir said it is unfortunate that the people who are responsible for the disturbances in the state have been given audience a number of times while the kashmiri Pandits who are leading an exiled life for last over 20 years have been totally ignored. This partisan and biased attitude of interlocutors is condemnable, he added.
He said KPs will not accept any formula or recommendation which will be inimical to the cause of community and does not recommend the separate homeland for over seven lakh Pandits within the Valley for them. Being the aborigines of Kashmir having thousands of years of history the community will not allow any solution on Kashmir, he added.
